Lluki Valverde
In the summer of 2023, Lluki Valverde took a knock to the head and decided to break open the piggy bank where he had been saving the money he’d earned playing with other bands. With those savings, he headed to Locus Estudio in Bellvitge. That is where his first EP, Bo amb mi, bo amb tu, came to life. Released in October 2023, it sealed his fate: from then on, his own music would bear his own name.
He brought together some of his closest friends to form a band of ambassadors for good vibes and good rhythm, who still join him on stage today: Gabriel Bosch, Joel Sánchez, Martí Escobedo, Cala Quintero and Lidia Facerías.
Over the following years, Lluki took the songs from Bo amb mi, bo amb tu, along with the new repertoire he was steadily building, to venues across L’Hospitalet and Barcelona, including Pumarejo, Salamandra and Heliogàbal, as well as festivals such as Figueres en Escena and Adoberies Fest. This journey gradually shaped an increasingly distinctive live show, as well as the songs that would eventually make up his first full-length album.
In September 2026, Lluki Valverde presented A la catalana at Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, ahead of the album’s official release on October 2 via Primavera Labels.
A la catalana portrays the Barcelona that stays awake long after it should have gone to bed: long nights, fleeting romances, friendship, desire, bars, streets and that feeling that the party should never have to end.
Between El Carmel, Heliogàbal, Paral·lel, La Florida and Carrer dels Àngels, Lluki builds a universe of characters and stories filled with humour, tenderness, romance and a touch of darkness. Musically, A la catalana draws from Catalan rumba and Barcelona’s free-spirited, hybrid musical tradition, with echoes of Gato Pérez, Orquesta Platería, Ocaña and Albert Pla, reimagined through a deeply personal and contemporary lens. A playful, life-affirming queer rumba that turns the city and its margins into the setting for an album about loving, going out, getting lost and carrying on celebrating life.
